Wedding photographer in Mexico
One of the greatest satisfactions as a photographer in Mallorca is to share the joy and eMotion of couples. With this Mexican wedding in Mallorca that I show you today, we have been complicit in this from the beginning.
We are lucky here on the island to have great professionals and one of them is the wedding planners Juliet’s Historias y Eventos. Vanesa, one of the two co-founders, contacted me one day and asked me to be the photographer for this wonderful wedding. She knows that one of my passions is being a wedding photographer in Mexico.
From the very beginning Vanesa was happy to be able to organise it and to use all her magic and professionalism in it. She infected me with her enthusiasm from the very first minute and that’s how it all started.
They are Maria and Nico, she is half Mexican, half German and he is German. They live in Zurich and are a beautiful couple in every way.
When I met the bride in question I fell in love with this wedding and everything around it.
The first time I spoke to Maria online she was amazing. Her energy and friendliness fills you up and we created a connection that I loved because I knew it was going to be a very special wedding. We chatted and she told me many details that she already had in mind and I found everything I heard very exciting.
Vanesa started to organise a super team that would have a very beautiful setting. It was to be held at Finca Las Barracas, a very exclusive and elegant venue with a very rustic Mallorcan touch.
Besides, it was going to be a three-day wedding, as Maria wanted to enjoy everything to the fullest. On Friday she would give a welcome drink in the form of a cocktail party at the Beach Club Gran Folies in Andratx. Saturday would be the wedding and on Sunday a pool party at Finca Las Barracas.
I like to personalise each wedding and get to know the couples well. It is a very special day for them and I live it in the same way. As a wedding photographer in Mexico, all this is very important. I take care of all the details and prepare special things for each wedding. That’s why when Maria was able to come to Mallorca a few months before the wedding we all met up to see Finca Las Barracas with Vanesa from Juliet’s in the lead.
When I saw her we hugged each other, happy to be able to meet in person and to prepare everything related to wedding photography in Mexico in detail. For me the lighting and the locations for each part of the wedding are fundamental. With Vanesa directing everything we looked at the different sites of the Finca and took detailed notes.
We also went to the Beach Club Gran Folies in Andratx and there Elena, the manager, explained to us how they were going to prepare everything. Loved the place, I already knew it before. That day we even saw dolphins in the sea which I love and it was magical for everyone.
Months later, a week before the wedding we went back again with Vanesa to the Finca to see how everything was, as the light conditions regarding the sun and other things change from one month to the next.
With Maria and Vanessa we went for lunch afterwards and had a nice chat about many details, who are their best friends and close relatives. I always like to know everything about the guests, the couple’s families and to have everything under control.
Friday the 30th of July finally arrived and we headed excitedly to the Beach Club Gran Folies. We were greeted by Elena and her team who were putting the finishing touches to the tables. Everything was beautiful, very elegant and magical. Vanessa had arrived with Jose who is helping her as an assistant, we were looking forward to seeing Maria again.
I knew she was going to come in a beautiful white dress from The Attico and all the guests would also come in white as it was the dresscode chosen for the occasion.
Little by little everyone started to come, each one more elegant than the next. Suddenly Maria appeared with Nico by her side and her smile said it all. Wearing sunglasses and a straw hat, she looked spectacular in her dress from The Attico.
There were many greetings and hugs, there were people who had not seen each other for a long time and it was very exciting. We were able to meet Maria’s mother who stood out with her great elegance. We also met her father and her best friends. We realised that Maria is surrounded by great people who share her happiness and that is very important.
The views were spectacular and without a doubt the Gran Folies is one of the top places in Mallorca. We left at the end looking forward to the next day for the big wedding.
We arrived at Finca Las Barracas in time to greet everyone and get ready. Vanessa and Jose from Juliet’s had been there since early in the morning to finalise the details. Marinella from A di Amore Flores had made an amazing floral decoration. The ceremony area looked like something out of a fairy tale. There were flowers everywhere and the aisle to the altar was all decorated with rows of flowers dominated by blue, purple and white.
In the cloister the Catering La Alacena with all its team had prepared all the tables, I loved the tableware chosen. The decoration by A di Amore was brutal. The wedding table lacked nothing and was super elegant and romantic at the same time.
We started the preparations with Nico and his friends in one of the rooms with the air conditioning on full blast. It was quite hot and so I tried to do everything quickly so that they had the best time possible. Nico had brought his best friends and they were joking and laughing all the time with the music playing. It’s the best way to get ready without stress. The groom was going to wear a suit designed by a prestigious and very exclusive German tailor.
We then went with the bride, as I told you there was a great team for this wedding. Maria had chosen two great professionals and artists for the make-up and hairstyle. With Jose Ojeda and Sergio Quesada you are guaranteed to feel like the most beautiful bride in the universe. They are also great people and I love working with them.
Maria was with her best friends and her beautiful mother. They were all having a great time together, looking forward to the wedding and the party. We hung up the dress to take pictures of it and it was spectacular. From the prestigious Swiss firm Hera Zurich, Maria had chosen one that was perfect for her style. Very elegant and modern, open at the back showing her beautiful back and with a dreamy transparent cape. The rings were from the elegant Swiss Jewellery Koerig, I loved them.
Her mother and her friends helped her put everything on and I was able to take pictures of them enjoying the moment while sipping the Moet Chandon champagne chosen for the occasion.
Her father came to give her the bouquet prepared by Marinella from A di Amore that the groom Nico had chosen. Maria looked thrilled to be surrounded by so much love and her family.
We left there at the end to go to the ceremony area.
Many guests were already arriving and Nico greeted them one by one. He was smiling with his friends and waiting impatiently for Maria. Everyone was very elegant and some were protecting themselves from the July sun in Mallorca with Japanese umbrellas prepared by Juliet’s for the occasion.
There was live music with a cellist playing pieces chosen for each moment.
First came the grooms mates, all very elegant, followed by Nico on the arm of his stepmother. He immediately took his place at the beautiful altar decorated with flowers. Then the brides maids made their entrance and Nico prepared himself for Maria’s arrival. When she appeared I think we were all thrilled, she looked beautiful and radiant.
She made her entrance on her father’s arm and when Maria and Nico finally came together it was magical to see them smiling happily.
The ceremony went very smoothly with the ceremony man telling the story of how they had met. There was laughter when they got to the part about how Nico proposed to Maria on top of a mountain. Now after 7 years of knowing each other they are getting married in style surrounded by their loved ones.
The whole ceremony was very beautiful and romantic. At the end of the ceremony, once they had exchanged rings and said “I do”, they left amidst petals and confetti. We quickly took them to a nearby place to take some photos of them as a couple. I don’t like to take too much time with the couples because I think it’s very important for them to enjoy the cocktail and that’s why I always have the place and the photos I want to take ready for them.
Near the Finca Las Barracas there are spectacular typical Majorcan fields. I had prepared a photo with white smoke for them that I wanted to take and I thought it was beautiful for them. I made the most of what I could and with the sun shining brightly I finished quickly.
The cocktail party was held in the pool area. Everyone was more relaxed and welcomed the bride and groom who had a glass of champagne and joined the guests.
They congratulated them as they passed each other. The caterer La Alacena had prepared a very varied cocktail and the trays kept coming out and delighting everyone.
The cloister area was already prepared for the banquet. At the end of the cocktail, Vanesa with the help of Jose slowly made all the guests take their seats.
The bride and groom made their entrance to applause and took their place at the presidential table. They were surrounded by their best friends under a beautiful vine, with flowers and candles lit all around the table.
The caterer La Alacena started to serve everyone. They had prepared a delicious barbecue with all kinds of meat, fish and vegetables.
Between courses, several friends and family members made touching speeches that made people laugh and shed more than one tear.
The bride had a surprise prepared for Nico. As a good Mexican she wanted a great tradition in Mexican weddings to be present. She had prepared a song to go in with mariachis and sing it to him. When she appeared through the door with them all the guests stood up in unison. A big party started with everyone dancing and singing together.
Maria was happy giving it all with her mother, her uncle and her friends. She danced with Nico looking at each other and laughing and enjoying the moment to the fullest.
The mariachis were great and it created an amazing atmosphere with the verbena lights illuminating us all.
In addition, La Alacena had prepared a tower made of champagne glasses that was filled by Nico with bottles of Moet Chandon. Maria began to hand them out to all the guests while the mariachis continued to play. The party went on and on and not even the threatening lightning and thunder could stop the crowd. Mezcal was flying among the guests and a long night of partying was promised.
We said goodbye to the couple until the next day for the pool party with a hug congratulating them again.
The next day we returned to Finca Las Barracas. They were all eating and enjoying a delicious barbecue. Gradually they moved to the pool where the dj started to play and cheer everyone up. The bride and groom had brought a dj directly from Germany who was playing electronic music for the three days, which is Nico’s favourite music.
We had left the bouquet throwing for this day. Maria prepared it for her single friends and it was very original. She threw it backwards into the pool and they went for it by jumping into the water, it was great fun.
After taking lots of photos of them in the pool it was time to say goodbye to María. The next time I come back to Mallorca I am sure we will meet up and remember these days with a good meal and a glass of wine.
I congratulate them again and thank them and Vanesa from Juliet’s for having trusted me, it has been a unique and magical wedding that I will always remember.
