Destination wedding in Mallorca
I had been looking forward to this wedding for a long time. Annie from A White hot wedding who I love working with had recommended it to us. We met Anna and Jamie who are Irish last winter in a cafe in Palma. As soon as I saw Anna who is of Brazilian origin I started to work in my head the creative photos I wanted to take of her. I thought she looked spectacular and her partner Jamie who has a gym, blond and muscular, were ideal and so kind. We were talking excitedly about the plans they had for their wedding. I was very happy to be able to do this destination wedding in Mallorca.
Their wedding date was to be June 5th at Finca Biniorella. I had never done a wedding there before, so as I like to do, I went there with Annie and Olivia who work together. The two of them were going to be in charge of all the organization and they had put together an incredible team of professionals. I really liked the venue because it has several large spaces. In addition, it is very well kept and the view of the mountains is spectacular.
The big day arrived with a sun that seemed that we were in August. It was quite hot but of course that’s how the island is. As a destination wedding photographer in Mallorca I’m used to it and even more so if it’s a foreign wedding like today. They have the habit of doing everything early and here with the heat you suffer a little at that time.
First we went to the bride’s house, it is not normal but the groom’s house was closer to the farm and we left it for the end. They had each rented a villa with a pool and Anna’s house had all her family. She also had three wonderful bridesmaids who were with her at all times. Her makeup and hair were almost done and Anna looked spectacular.
For this wedding I was going to be accompanied in the video by Dani Mota. I had heard a lot about him but we had never met, so I really wanted to do it. In the bride’s room we moved the bed out of the way and left a good space to take good pictures. We took out the dress and everyone loved it. The friends had not seen it yet and no doubt we all thought it was perfect for Anna.
Little by little we started to dress her with their help. By the time she had it on with the shoes and everything, she looked like a model out of a magazine. As a destination wedding photographer in Mallorca I was really enjoying taking all kinds of pictures. We got some champagne, glasses and organized a mini party between all of us, it was a good start for this beautiful wedding.
From there we went to Jamie’s house. He was with all his siblings, his mother who is spectacular, his father and friends. The house had beautiful sea views of the Andratx area. Jamie asked us how Anna looked in her dress, he was really looking forward to seeing her. Between sips of whiskey and beers, the groom got dressed with a lot of desire to party. We went up to the upstairs terrace for a few more photos and from there we rushed to Finca Biniorella.
I was able to say hello to Annie and Olivia who were finalizing the last details. Everything was spectacular with a beautiful decoration. The guests slowly started to come and Manchego Mallorca catering offered them a welcome drink. It was the first time I had worked with them and I thought it was amazing. Both the level of the food and the friendliness and professionalism. We were going to have a great time today for sure….
We all moved on to the ceremony area and the sun was at its highest. Almost all the guests were sitting in the sun but that’s what we were in Mallorca for. The ceremony was conducted by a priest friend of theirs who had already officially married them six weeks ago. For the ceremony and afterwards they had hired a music band. I always recommend them because I love them and they play Cuban music, Juan Antonio Gil from Music weddings events. Both Dani Mota and I tried to capture the best moments of the ceremony. Once it was over they all moved to the shade in the cocktail area.
All the friends and family were congratulating the couple and at one point I took them to take some pictures together. I always try to do it very quickly so they don’t miss the cocktail party which is one of the best parts of a wedding. The pitchers of sangria were flying and everyone was chatting animatedly amongst themselves.
We then moved on to the banquet area, which was in an esplanade with a very green lawn and beautiful views of the mountains.
The tables were beautifully decorated and plates of cheeses and cold meats prepared by Manchego Mallorca catering were waiting on them. We took the opportunity to sit a bit and taste their dishes.
Then began the speeches from both parents and Jamie’s brother. He made everyone laugh with anecdotes from when Jamie was little. Then Jaime also made his speech which was very touching, directing comments to Anna who was happy by his side. The sunset was spectacular hiding behind the mountains. I took the couple again and took some pictures of them taking advantage of the magical orange light.
Once the coffees were finished we headed to the cloister area where everything was ready for the party. This great band was playing live and all the guests started dancing. Catering Manchego had prepared espresso martini cocktails for everyone.
The bride’s brother, Jake was giving it his all in spectacular fashion being a professional dancer. DJ Quique took over the music and the couple did the bridal dance in the middle of a space that was made for them. Slowly we got ready to leave. We said goodbye to Annie and Olivia and the bride and groom. We thanked both Anna and Jamie, it had been a pleasure to do this wonderful destination wedding in Mallorca and wished them all the happiness in the world.
